Every one of us has the responsibility stop death and injuries at the workplace.
Today, April 28th, is the World Day for Health and Safety at Work. This occasion is celebrated to promote the prevention of accidents at work and occupational diseases worldwide. This international information campaign, promoted by ILO, intends to focus the spotlight on new developments in the field of health and safety at work, with particular attention to the still high number of accidents at work, occupational diseases and white deaths, around the world.
It is estimated that every 15 seconds a worker dies on the job due to an accident at work or an occupational disease. Every 15 seconds, 153 workers have an accident at work.
Every day, 6,300 people die from work-related accidents or occupational diseases – causing more than 2.3 million deaths a year. 317 million workplace accidents occur annually, many of which lead to prolonged absences from work due to illness. The human cost of these daily tragedies is enormous and the economic burden caused by poor workplace safety practices is estimated to be 4 percent of global gross domestic product each year.
For us Goal Zero is a mission, is a journey we walk along with the companies that work with us to decrease to Zero the accidents at work.
We work hard every day to make this mission became a tangible reality. We believe that individual awareness, engagement and contribution combined with a solid management system are the key drivers to achieve excellent health, safety and environmental results.
We hope that this day and these numbers are not just food for thought, but that they make us understand how important it is for every human being, for the families of workers and for our planet that everyone is actively committed to change things.
We at Arteak are here to accompany companies and their employees to make Zero an ever closer number.
